Aziz - City Livin' (Feat. Mike Irving)

Took a chance on this guy and gave him a listen off GMAD. Gotta say I'm jacked that I did too! Tight song with a tight video. Props to Mike Irving on the feature. I thought his sound was good too. This is definitely worth taking time out of your day to listen to. Check it out below and enjoy!

Rick Ross - 3 Kings (Feat. Dr. Dre & Jay-Z) (MMG Visual Piece)

The Bawse has released a video celebrating the histories of the "3 Kings" referenced in this song. To be honest, they are a sort of living legends. However, I find it questionable to include Rick Ross in the same conversation as Dre and Hova.

Anyways, the video is a cool look back at their careers and the song has definitely grown on me since I first heard it. Take a watch below and enjoy!

Wiz Khalifa - Still Got It (Feat. Project Pat)

Nothing special here for me. Recently, as Wiz has blown up to new extremes, alongside the stresses of constant touring, his quality has suffered for me. However, he is still worthy of a post here as his bigger fans may still enjoy this more than I did.

GMAD has provided us with a convenient free download link on the SoundCloud widget below. So, take a listen below and enjoy!

Tyga - Make It Nasty (Video)

I guess I should warn anyone watching this around other individuals that you may get some looks and/or gasps. I saw this over on GMAD last evening and thought it hilarious that they started the post by saying "Do not watch this at work". The strip club rapper has done it again and this video just explodes with inappropriateness, but I loved it and thought it was hysterical. Check it out below and enjoy!

The Zone (PM Remix) - The Weeknd & Drake

Love it every time this guy combines a chill vibe with a Drake verse. He's obviously a fan of The Weeknd as they seem to be featured a lot with him and I'm digging what they bring to this, but I think Drake's verse is what really takes this over the top. Something about his sound just meshes with PM's beats really well. Take a listen and enjoy below!

Aer - The Bright Side (ALBUM OUT)

So...AER RELEASED THEIR ALBUM THE BRIGHT SIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been looking forward to this release for months now and the early releases of Floats My Boat and Like the Way did not help! I have posted the SoundCloud widget below so yall can listen to the album here and LOVE it, but you should also take the time out to get on iTunes and buy it there! Support these guys whenever, wherever, and however you can because they are gold!

Also, Aer is on tour with YONAS (The Bright Side Tour). So, WHEN you LOVE this album, check out the locations and dates and go see them as both these acts are two of this blog's favorites. Don't miss out on a chance to see both Aer and YONAS while they are still "up and coming" because they will both be huge soon!

Here is what Aer had to say about the release of their album:
"The Bright Side embodies everything that we want our fans to know about us, it's real, organic, straight up, no behind the curtain music."

Kelly Rowland - ICE (Feat. Lil Wayne)

This isn't for me, but I thought I'd post in case someone on here enjoys this combination. If you remember these two combining forces for Motivation, this is somewhat similar except Weezy has fallen off the deep end these days and hasn't done any better here. Check it out below and see for yourself!

50 Cent - New Day (Feat. Dr. Dre & Alicia Keys)

Can 50 nose dive any farther with his career? My guess is yes because his verses in this are pathetic. However, I do think Dre and Alicia Keys save him here from possible disaster. I do enjoy Dre's verse and Keys' hook is tight, but this should probably just be Alicia Keys' song. Check it out below and enjoy!

Big K.R.I.T. - What U Mean (Feat. Ludacris)

This blog LOVES Big K.R.I.T. and this song is no exception. Bringing out an older "legend" (dare I say "legend"?) is a great move for this up and coming southern star. Southern rap is hittin hard these days between Tity Boi, K.R.I.T., Jeezy, TIP, Luda, and the rest of em. I'll be reppin this song hard and I hope the clubs and bars do too because this would be a hit for those venues. Check it out below and enjoy the official music video with it!

J. Cole - The Cure

After a long hiatus during which Roc Nation's Prince admittedly felt overwhelmed by the pressure to produce music frequently with the high quality people have come for expect from Cole World, heeeeeeeeeee's baaaaaaaack!

“I ain’t drop nothing in a while because I feel like we in this digital age where sh– moves so fast,” he said. “N—-s got songs every week, you can’t even keep up with this sh–.” – J. Cole

Recently, Cole had premiered a new verse from what had been perceived as his next single Chaining Day at DJ Spynfo's Mic Check in NYC. The verse itself has some serious venting words from Cole talking about how he had never wanted to become "that guy", but he fell victim to the image culture and got himself a Jesus Piece. "They even iced out Jesus' hair!" Good stuff so check the YouTube video below for that verse:

Once you're done with that video, check out J. Cole's actual new track, The Cure. He took to the "Twittersphere" (@JColeNC) to promote this new track and reassure people that there is still plenty of that Dreamville fire to come in the future. Check it out below and enjoy!

Rick Ross - Diced Pineapples (Feat. Wale & Drake)

Diced Pineapples is another single that will be featured on Ross' upcoming God Forgives, I Don't album, which drops next Tuesday, July 31. Drake does nothing but "sing" on this which I find exceptionally lame, but go figure I guess. Having said that, Ross does pretty well and Wale (as always) kills it here to keep this an actual hip-hop song. On the real though Drake...are you serious with this?

Chip Tha Ripper - Keep It So Real

I haven't heard much from Chip recently (which is not to say I am an authority on the artist), but I am glad this came across my computer screen. Take a listen below and enjoy Chip Tha Ripper's cool flow.

Childish Gambino - Fire Fly (Official Music Video)

Childish Gambino takes us on a sci-fi adventure in his most recent music video release for his song Fire Fly. Some of his past music videos have been confusing and/or just bad so this one was a revelation for many people, including myself. It isn't what I would consider great, but he is at least taking steps in the right direction. Watch the video below and enjoy!

Yo Gotti - I Got That Sack Remix (Feat. Young Jeezy & T.I.)

Woah...so as far as I can tell, Gotti does what he normally does here and I'm actually enjoying it despite the fact that it's...Yo Gotti haha. Additionally, anyone who knows me and/or pays attention to this blog will know that I am obsessed with Jeezy so...enough said. I mean, even T.I. does well enough here haha!

Basically, I'm a fan of this and it's a free download so check it out below and enjoy.

Radical Something - Spread Your Wings

I know this is on the fringe of what some people would find acceptable on a hip-hop blog, but I am becoming such a big fan of these guys that I think they deserve a post here. Radical Something has put out two songs (including this one) now that I have become aware of and loved. Between this tune and Santa Barbara, I have become a pretty big fan of these guys. Check them out below and support when and where you can!

Not to mention, this is a free download courtesy of the band themselves!

2 Chainz - Birthday Song (Feat. Kanye West)

Tity Boi EXTENDOOOOOOO has released the second single off his upcoming project, Based On A T.R.U. Story, set to drop on August 14th. The explicit version drops tonight and I will update this post once I get my hands on that version, but enjoy the clean version below for now.

Once again, I can't help but listen to 2 Chainz over and over again...this guy has to be a genie of some sort. I do think it's hilarious they compare themselves to Snoop and Dre towards the end of the song...we'll see if there is any response to that in the coming weeks (or if that even warrants a response haha).

Matisyahu - Spark Seeker

Spark Seeker was officially released on iTunes almost a week ago now and I have finally had a chance to listen to it all to give some kind of a review. There is an interesting mix of traditional Matisyahu and a slightly newer version of a more "pop" Matisyahu. I'm a big fan of Sunshine and Live Like A Warrior because I enjoy those more upbeat songs even though some are calling them "pop-y". Overall, I enjoy pretty much everything this guy puts out and I think his new short haircut and new style of music is interesting as well. Take a listen below and support on iTunes if you like what you hear.

Aer - Like The Way

Second single off their upcoming album The Bright Side, set to drop on July 30th. Based on the two songs they have already released, this album is going to be a must have. These guys are a favorite of this blog and they are going on tour soon down the East Coast with YONAS as their guest so check em out, support em, and enjoy below!

Get the song here for now.

UPDATE: Check the YouTube video for this song that Aer just released on their The Aer Music YouTube channel.

Snoop Lion - La La La (Produced by Major Lazer)

Check out Snoop on his singing tip haha! I guess he figured he'd try this out n see what happens. I actually kind of like this song's vibe. The beat produced by Diplo/Major Lazer is pretty tight and really sets the tone for toleration of Snoop "Lion's" singing haha. Check it out and enjoy below!

Rick Ross - 3 Kings (Feat. Dr. Dre & Jay-Z)

Massive features for Rozay here as two of the biggest of all time combine with Ross here. I'm not blown away by Dre's verse and Ross does about as well as I have come to expect from him. Having said that, I'm not the biggest Rick Ross fan so if yall are then you might love his verse.

HOWEVER, I am a big fan of Hova's contribution and I think it deservedly gets the longest play time in this track. Take a listen below and decide for yourself. The God Forgives, I Don't album will be out in stores July 31st.

- TD O_o

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - Same Love (Feat. Mary Lambert)

Not only is the beat, flow, Mary Lambert's voice, etc. great in this song, but the lyrics and meaning of this song go super far. Good for these guys calling out Hip-Hop and everyone else in America with this tune. I like the message and love the song! Check it out below.

- TD O_o

Talib Kweli - Push Through (Feat. Curren$y & Kendrick Lamar

This song is pretty awesome actually and I'm a big fan of the features on it as well. This track is going to be on Kweli's upcoming album entitled Prisoner of Consciousness. Check it out below and support the man when his album comes out!

Toyota's Rav4 Summer Mixtape (Produced by GMAD & VIBE)

A lot of good tracks on this GMAD production. I've already posted the Radical Something tune called "Santa Barbara" and I'm obviously a big fan of that song, but I think my favorite on this (at the moment) has to be Chiddy Bang's "Going Hard Freestyle".

- TD O_o

JoJo - Demonstrate

Haven't heard much from this chick in a while, but this track sounds good enough for me to give yall a post about it. While this track isn't anything out of this world, I have always thought JoJo had a lot of talent and a pretty awesome voice. I'll definitely give this a listen-worthy rating.

Childish Gambino - Sour Face (Feat. Jay Rock)

Another Gambino song in what has been a very busy summer for Mr. D. Glover. Jay Rock doesn't do anything special, but he is decent. Then Gambino comes in and does his thing as per usual. Seems like no matter how much the man puts out, he still delivers regardless! Listen below and get that free download courtesy of GMAD.

Chiddy Bang - Paper & Plastic

I was questioning this song until the beat kicked in and saved it (plus more). Classic Chiddy Bang flow and a great beat adds up to pure success in my book. Check it out below and catch that free download courtesy of GMAD.

Aer's "The Bright Side Tour" with Special Guest YONAS

Self explanatory post here...if you live on the east coast and this doesn't get you excited then I don't know what will. Both of these acts are up and coming with very distinct sounds and they are two of this blog's favorites. A little curious about combining them, but as someone who is definitely going to be going I'm not mad about it!

Radical Something - Santa Barbara

I know this isn't much of a hip-hop song, but I'm enjoying it quite a bit to be honest. Maybe it's because I'm a giant fan of SB or maybe it's just the song. Take a listen to this below and perhaps you'll enjoy it as much as me!

YONAS brings the official music video for "The Transition"

YONAS brings the official music video out for his track "The Transition" off his FIRE mixtape The Transition and released it today on Twitter. I can't say enough good things about the mixtape itself and the single "The Transition" is definitely a highlight off of the list of hits he brings out.

Now I'm just waiting for the video for "Don't Give A Damn" and my summer will be complete! Watch below and go support this New Yorker whenever and wherever you can!

Next (PM Remix) - The Weeknd

Must say I am enjoying what PM is putting out with these last two posts here. If you take a listen to the original here and compare it with what this remix has done I think you will enjoy the chill vibe that this beat master is putting out. I really appreciate the fresh take PM gives to the song. Take a listen below:

Lloyd Banks - Bring It Back (Feat. Fabolous)

Lloyd Banks makes his way back into relevancy with this track with Fabolous. I'm enjoying the beat on this song and I think Banks goes in pretty well on his verses. Fabolous also showed me something here and I'll give him his props. Check it out as this is going to be a part of Lloyd Banks' V6 mixtape coming out in the near future.

The Ride (PM Remix) - Drake & The Weeknd

This is vibey music at its finest. PM Beats remixes this track off of Drake's Take Care album and gets the job done if you ask me. Take a listen to this track and enjoy the smooth feelings it gives you as the beat lulls you into submission just in time for Drake's verses to come in on you.

Meek Mill - Amen (Feat. Drake) Official Video

Meek Mill's hit single "Amen" featuring Drake has hit the big time since its release and now the video has hit the web. I thought it was interesting to see the celebrity appearances in the video like J. Cole as anyone who follows this knows I am a giant fan of #ColeWorld. Anyways, entertaining video for a pretty good club song to vibe to. Enjoy the video below.

- TD O_o

Kendrick Lamar - Swimming Pools (Drank)

Giant fan of this track as Kendrick brings out another banger that showcases his speedy flow. I think that this is the type of music he needs to keep putting out if he is going to be successful in the long run. I am generally a really big fan of this artist and he definitely has not disappointed me...look below to listen and see for yourself.

Theophilus London Mixtape

I'm actually not the biggest fan of this mixtape, but I do enjoy the more popular songs like "Big Spender" that have been getting some air time around the country. I don't know...some of this stuff is just weird to me, but you should definitely take a listen and see what you think.

Nas - Bye Baby

Inspired by his recent divorce from Kelis, Nas' Life is Good album is set to drop on Tuesday, July 17, 2012. People are saying that this track, "Bye Baby," is pretty much an autobiographical piece for Nas describing his split from his former wife, which makes the song all the more interesting. Nas' great story-telling flow goes along perfectly with this 90's style R&B beat.

Check it out in the YouTube link below and support the Brooklyn rapper on July 17th.

DMX - I Don't Dance (Feat. Machine Gun Kelly)

Just recently came across this track and I can't say I'm much of a fan. I REALLY don't like DMX's contributions to this and I don't think MGK does much better. Just for your own benefit, you might want to take a look at the YouTube video below and see if you enjoy this track, but it's not one for me.

- TD O_o

Tarik & Mike Stud - You Don't Know Me

Didn't know much about Mike Stud going into this song and I had only heard Tarik a hand full of times, but I am pleased with what I heard in this release. I liked this combination of artists as I think they flowed well together and I am a big fan of the beat. Check the YouTube video out below.

French Montana - Pop That (Feat. Rick Ross, Drake, & Lil Wayne)

I swear Weezy gets weirder and weirder with every passing song, but I can't hate on him that much since I will probably listen to this song again. French does absolutely NOTHING for me, but I actually didn't hate Rick Ross for once. Drake doesn't kill it like he used to by any stretch of the imagination, but he also didn't blow his verse. All in all, this will probably be successful in clubs because of the prototypical beat and the prototypical features. Take a listen below.

Childish Gambino strikes again

lol @ this picture by the way

Man this guy doesn't take a break. After crashing his own site on July 4th with the drop of his much anticipated Royalty mixtape, he has two more things that he has come out with now.

The first is a track featuring Prodigy called "Body". Now, I'm not the biggest fan of Prodigy on this track, but he does enough to make me enjoy this. Gambino goes in as usual and the whole sound of the song flips halfway through the song. It's hard for Childish Gambino to do anything wrong in my eyes.

The second recent addition from Childish Gambino is from a trip he recently made on to the Westwood radio show. People are talking about the realm of "freestyles" nowadays and Gambino adds to the flame by reading a verse off of his phone. What is a freestyle to you? Regardless of this conversation, I like what I hear here (big surprise). Take a listen.

Nas and Amy Winehouse Song

Super mixed feelings about this coming out since the recent tragic loss of Winehouse is still raw for many around the country. It's a shame that Winehouse passed so ahead of her time and her talent will be missed, but this song is pretty taf if you ask me. Take a listen and appreciate this little gift that Amy Winehouse left us R.I.P.

Frank Ocean - Sweet Life

Man...all I can say is that I can vibe so hard to everything this guy puts out. It's really good to see continued mastery from Frank Ocean despite the tumultuous week or two that have just past for this man. This guy could be in love with a rock and his talent would still shine...seriously, whatever you are doing PLEASE CONTINUE because it is working in your music big guy. I hope I get the sincere pleasure of seeing this guy perform again live some day.

Childish Gambino is Royalty

The awaited drop of Childish Gambino's mixtape, Royalty, has now arrived as he decided to give people something to vibe to during July 4th celebrations. Some of the songs have been leaked already and/or previewed by Gambino himself, but pretty much everything he touches is gold.

So enjoy those oldies alongside some new tracks with features including Nipsey Hussle, Steve G. Lover, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, Bun B, RZA, Hypnotic Brass Orchestra, Ghostface Killah, Danny Brown, Beck, Chance the Rapper, Gonage, Danielle Haim, Josh Osho, Kilo Kish, Alley Boy, Swank, and even Tina Fey at the end of the last track.

Frank Ocean comes out of the closet.

I am going to defer the reporting of this story to my good friend Jennifer Brix over at her site. She covers Frank's thoughts and Tyler, The Creator's response.

Read the article here: Jennifer Brix

As far as I'm concerned, good for Frank Ocean. Whatever makes him happy is what he should do and he is a great role model for kids growing up to look to in deciding whether to come out or not. Additionally, I saw him at Coachella and he was one of, if not my absolute, favorites at that festival. Regardless of his sexual orientation, the man has unbelievable talent.

Big Boi - Gossip (Feat. UGK & Big K.R.I.T.)

If yall pay any attention to my music posts moving forward you will notice a trend of certain artists that I will keep coming back to. FYI, Big K.R.I.T is definitely one of those artists. This southerner has an awesome flow moving between fast paced spitting to slow and smooth melodic singing that shows his multifaceted skill set in the genre.

This song is a newish one from Big Boi, who I think can be good sometimes too. However, this post is because I love Big K.R.I.T. so check this out and follow his music out there.
